Who is it for?

This qualification is designed for any learner that wants to raise their awareness of more common mental health conditions and the problems that can cause mental ill health.

Mental health presents one of the greatest challenges to our society. With an estimated 450 million people worldwide suffering from a mental health problem, around a quarter of British adults will experience some form of mental health problem within the course of a year.

While many elements of mental health are still not understood, having a good knowledge of the information that is available is essential in any sector.

What is covered?

To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness, learners are required to successfully complete 13 units:

  • Unit 01 Understanding mental health;
  • Unit 02 Understanding stress;
  • Unit 03 Understanding anxiety; 
  • Unit 04 Understanding depression;
  • Unit 05 Understanding phobias
  • Unit 06 Understanding eating disorders;
  • Unit 07 Understanding attention deficit hyperactivity disorder;
  • Unit 08 Understanding obsessive compulsive disorder
  • Unit 09 Understanding post-traumatic stress disorder;
  • Unit 10 Understanding dementia;
  • Unit 11 Understanding post-natal depression;
  • Unit 12 Understanding bipolar disorder;
  • Unit 13 Understanding schizophrenia;

You need to be aged 19 or over at the start of the current academic year to be able to enrol on one of our Distance Learning courses. 

You will also need to be working at or above Level 1 in English.

We will assess your level of English before we enrol you onto the course and can signpost you to our Functional Skills English courses to upskill if necessary.
