What can this course lead to?

Learners can progress through the levels from their starting level. L2 is now considered to be an equivalent to GCSE English Language at grade 4.

Once achieved, this course can be used to provide evidence of proficient English skills to employers and universities, or can lead to a GCSE qualification for those wanting or needing to progress with this qualification.

Who is it for?

For learners wanting to achieve a Functional Skills qualification in English to assist with education and career progression. The course covers from Entry Level to Level 2.

What is covered?

The course covers basic writing skills at entry level through to producing documents in the work place at the higher levels. There is a strong focus on spelling, punctuation and grammar.

For reading, the skills of finding information in texts, making comparisons between texts, and recognising techniques used by authors of texts are covered, including language and organisational features.

For speaking and listening, learners will demonstrate being able to deliver information to their peers, listening and asking questions as well as contributing to group discussions.

All learning is online using Google classroom and Google sites.

A basic level of English is required to complete the course. This course does not teach the language to non–speakers. Access to a computer/laptop and the internet are essential. Mobile phones are not suitable.
