This qualification is for students who would like to progress into nursing or social care. Please check university entry requirements.
Students will dive into the heart of person-centered care, learning how to champion the rights, dignity, and independence of vulnerable adults. The curriculum balances essential “soft skills,” like advanced communication and mental health awareness, with technical expertise in safeguarding, care planning, and infection control. You’ll explore specialised topics such as dementia care and learning disabilities while gaining real-world experience through a mandatory industry placement.
23 units graded at Pass/ Merit/ Distinction:
Students will need 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English and Maths.
Students will be assessed via Internal assignments and practical observations.
There will be an additional cost for the uniform required for this course.
Students will undergo 30 hours of work expereince.
You will also need to have a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Certificate with no grounds that you are professionally unsuitable to undertake professional practice or placement. Application for a DBS is managed by the College and we will contact you with the forms and guidance you require to complete this before you are due to start your course.

Studying at College helped me to become more independent, as well as giving me the practical writing skills I needed to prepare for university study. I feel more than ready to start my Biomedical Sciences Degree at Oxford Brookes University.
