On completion of this course, you can progress to the Exploring Animals, Horticulture and Life Skills or Exploring Catering, Retail and Life Skills courses.
What can this course lead to?
Who is it for?
An entry level course with an emphasis on social, independence, practical and sensory activities. Develop independence, social and emotional skills whilst learning about personal presentation, good health, household skills, independent living, mobility, citizenship, money handling, budgeting, employability, developing friendships, leisure and enrichment activities. Learners will be in small sized groups with others working at a similar level.
What is covered?
- Work-based projects in catering, horticulture, animal care and retail.
- Further develop numeracy and literacy skills
- Enrichment, tutorials, independence skills and supported study.
- Students will be assessed throughout the year and will build an evidence portfolio.
Includes sessions in English and Maths, Enrichment, Tutorials, Independent Living Skills and supported study. All of our programmes are underpinned with the opportunity to develop life skills, communication development and safety in the community. Much of the curriculum will be working towards individual targets and EHCP outcomes if applicable.

You will be assessed on your progress throughout the year and build a portfolio of evidence. Functional skills will involve tests at the appropriate level.
Trips, visits and guest speakers are an essential part of your course and they develop your knowledge and allow you to add to the skills you are learning at College. Trips and visits may come at an additional cost.
