Who is it for?

This T Level is designed for those who want to develop in-depth plumbing skills, advanced techniques and specialised knowledge to prepare for leadership roles in the plumbing industry.

The two-year course will provide you with advanced plumbing and building services engineering training through blended-learning lessons and hands-on sessions in purpose-built workshops. You will gain an in-depth introduction to how the construction industry works, the theories and principles of design, and the role of technology and sustainability. You’ll also complete a 45-day industry placement to enhance your developing skills.

If you are not quite ready for a T Level, then a transition programme could give you the chance to improve your maths and English (and any other subjects you need to improve) to move on to a T Level the following year.

To join this T Level, you’ll need to meet one of the following entry requirements:

  • 4 GCSEs at grades 4/C or above, including English and Maths (or Functional Skills at Level 2), plus either a science or design technology-based subject.
  • Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing, provided you have also achieved English and Maths at grade 4/C or above.

You must also demonstrate a minimum of 90% attendance at your last place of work or study.

If you don’t meet these requirements but want to start on your chosen career path, there are alternative options:

  • Foundation programme: Grade 3 in English Language, Grade 4 in Maths, plus two other GCSEs at grade 3 or above.
  • Level 1 course: 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and Maths.
