Empowering Tomorrow’s Engineers: Inspire Education Group’s Partnership with Howden Turbo UK, a Chart Industries Company
This National Apprenticeship Week (5th-11th February 2024), Inspire Education Group (IEG), comprising Stamford College, Peterborough College and University Centre Peterborough, is proud to celebrate its working relationship with turbo machinery manufacturer, Howden Turbo UK. Howden is a part of Chart Industries, a global leader in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of process technologies and equipment for gas and liquid molecule handling for the Nexus of Clean™ – clean power, clean water, clean food, and clean industrials.
Chart’s Howden Turbo UK business is the world leader in the design, manufacture, installation, commission and support of Steam Turbines, Reciprocating Gas Compressors and Combined Heat & Power (CHP) solutions. With thousands of installations across more than 100 countries, their products are integral power systems for petrochemical plants, sugar refineries, offshore oil rigs and power stations.
Like many companies in the engineering industry, Chart’s Howden Turbo UK business is battling against a 30-year skills gap. Recognising apprentices as the future of their business, the Peterborough location recruits a new intake of passionate, driven individuals every year. Catering to interests in engineering, design, and business, this exciting apprenticeship programme offers pathways to very rewarding careers. “Apprenticeships are the way to go”, Jerry Rackham, Apprentice Training Coordinator at Howden Turbo UK, shared. “We benefit from their young minds, fresh ideas and new perspectives, and in turn they’re guided by our highly skilled engineers with decades of experience and knowledge”.
Paul Ward, Group Apprenticeship Recruitment Manager at Inspire Group, commented, “This National Apprenticeship Week and beyond, we’re proud to celebrate our successful collaborative partnerships with local employers. Our longstanding relationship with Howden Turbo UK, and now Chart Industries, stands as a shining example of shared commitment to nurturing local talent. Thank you for your invaluable support”. Jerry Rackham emulated this, sharing, “We are proud to be working alongside Inspire Education Group’s Peterborough and Stamford Colleges, to encourage young hearts and minds within Engineering, and to make a better tomorrow for us all”.
Inspire Education Group looks forward to the future of its working relationship with Chart’s Howden Turbo UK team, enhancing learning experiences and empowering students to thrive in their chosen fields.
