Former IT Student Secures Role as a Senior Cyber Security Analyst

Will Broom, a former Information Technology (IT) student of Stamford College, has carved out a successful career in the cyber security industry, having secured a position as a Senior Cyber Security Analyst for a major Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP).

Completing his studies with Inspire Education Group (IEG) in 2018, Will initially embarked on a role as an IT Manager & Administrator for a small family business. “We were taught a diverse range of topics at College, from Systems Security to Computer Games Design, which gave me the foundational knowledge to kickstart my career”, Will explained. “In covering so much, it helped me to figure out what area of IT interested me the most, and I later transitioned to the Cyber Security industry in 2022”.

Describing his role, Will explained, “We manage the security of over thirty clients. We protect them from various cyber-attacks, including phishing, ransomware and malware”. Generously offering his mentorship to those aspiring to enter the field, he went on to share, “We always need more people in cyber security – it’s an ever-growing field and a strong workforce is needed now more than ever. I wouldn’t be where I am in my career now without the College course, so I’m always happy to talk all things cyber/IT over LinkedIn!”.

For aspiring Stamford College students, Will’s advice is clear: “Go for it! Stamford College is a great place to learn. The assignments are practical and relevant – I still reference some of my College work in my current role! The tutors and fellow students are so friendly, so take advantage of the support available to you. Put your mind to it, and you can accomplish anything!”.
