Hollywood Costume Maker Joins Fashion Students For Masterclass

18 December 2025

Our Level 3 Fashion and Textiles students recently stepped into the world of high-end costume design during an exclusive three-day Corset Masterclass.

The College was delighted to host renowned costume maker Emma Brackenbury, who shared her specialist expertise with our cohort.

Emma, who runs the prestigious The Corsetry Retreat, brought a wealth of industry experience from the world of high-budget cinema and theatre. Her impressive portfolio includes work on blockbuster productions such as Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Fantastic Beasts, Tulip Fever, and Artemis Fowl. For our students, learning from someone who has created garments for the big screen is a rare and inspiring opportunity.

During the intensive sessions, students were given the hands-on opportunity to construct their own bespoke corsets from scratch. This practical application allowed them to refine their tailoring and technical construction skills, bridging the gap between classroom theory and industry-standard production.

Keira Robinson, Level 3 Fashion and Textiles student said, “I’ve really enjoyed the pattern cutting, measuring, and tailoring. The workshop has been really good and I’ve learned so many skills I can use in the future.”

Level 3 Fashion and Textiles student, Ruby Barratt-Jones, also added, “The workshop has been really interesting. Seeing how someone can make corsets from scratch, building patterns and measuring for size is such a great experience.”

Both Ruby and Keira are looking to progress into the fashion industry at University after completing their course at College.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Emma for supporting our students with this workshop. It has provided an invaluable foundation of skills that our students will carry forward into their future careers in the industry.
