NHS Midwifery Expert Inspires Health and Social Care Students

5 March 2026

Students at Stamford College were given a unique, hands-on insight into the world of healthcare as they welcomed a specialist guest from the NHS to discuss the rewarding career path of midwifery.

Kayleigh, a professional from Peterborough City Hospital, visited the college to speak with current Health and Social Care students. The session provided a comprehensive look at the realities of the profession, covering everything from the various medical roles involved during childbirth to the vital importance of postnatal aftercare for both mother and baby.

Beyond the theory, the visit highlighted the diverse career opportunities and professional pathways that the Health and Social Care course opens up for students looking to enter the healthcare sector.

The highlight of the session was a practical demonstration involving a “delivery simulator.” Under Kayleigh’s expert guidance, students were able to step into the shoes of a midwife, practicing the clinical techniques and bedside manner required when delivering a child in a high-pressure environment.

The visit is part of the college’s ongoing commitment to providing students with industry-standard experiences that prepare them for successful careers in the local community and the NHS.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Kayleigh for sharing her expertise and providing such an inspiring look into the world of midwifery, her visit has truly motivated our students as they consider their future careers within the NHS.
