Peterborough and Stamford College Air and Defence Students Celebrate Matriculation at International Bomber Command Centre

Students from Peterborough College and Stamford College, part of Inspire Education Group (IEG), have officially begun their studies with an Air and Defence matriculation ceremony held at the renowned International Bomber Command Centre (IBCC) in Lincoln. 

The symbolic and inspirational setting of the IBCC provided the perfect backdrop for the next generation of aviation and aerospace professionals as they begin their educational journey. More than 140 students, accompanied by lecturers, industry leaders and representatives from key ASI partners, gathered to celebrate the start of the academic year and the opportunities that lie ahead. 

The Air & Defence College, delivered by Inspire Education Group, provides a specialist route into aviation, aerospace, and defence careers for 16–19-year-olds. With its strong employer links and technical training focus, the programme is designed to equip students with the practical skills and knowledge that leading organisations in these fast-growing industries.

The event also featured an inspiring address from Deputy Commandant Group Captain Steve Harrison, based at RAF Cranwell. His presence underscored the significance of the occasion, as he offered inspiring words to the students embarking on their career paths as pilots, engineers and ground crew, both in the UK and abroad. Filled with pride, the speech set an inspiring tone for the students’ journey ahead, leaving them eager to embrace the opportunities and challenges that await. 

New to this year’s matriculation was the introduction of team-building activities, giving Inspire Education Group students the chance to create new relationships across Stamford and Peterborough Colleges. These activities not only encouraged collaboration and camaraderie but also began developing the communication and teamwork skills that will support their studies, training, and future enrichment opportunities.

Now fully enrolled, Air & Defence students at IEG are ready to take the next steps towards making an impact in their chosen fields. Inspire Education Group extends its thanks to the ASI, IBCC, and all industry partners whose collaboration helped create such a memorable and inspiring welcome event.
