Road Ready: Stamford College Students Team Up to Master Essential Life Skills

23 April 2026

Stamford College is helping students get “road ready” through personal development sessions.

This week, Level 3 Motor Vehicle students turned into teachers, showing Year 2 Health and Social Care T-Level students how to handle basic car maintenance. The hands-on sessions covered everything from changing a tyre and replacing windscreen wipers to checking vital fluids like oil, coolant, and brake fluid.

The initiative has been a massive hit, with T-Level students reporting they gained a huge amount of confidence from the practical lessons. Following this success, the Motor Vehicle team plans to roll the training out to other departments across the College. It’s a fantastic way for students from different subject areas to connect and share their expertise.

These workshops are a key part of the college’s focus on personal development and life skills. By learning these essentials now, students are building the independence they need for the real world. Mastering these everyday tasks ensures they are prepared for the responsibilities of adulthood, making them safer and more self-reliant drivers.
