Stamford Air and Defence College Alumnus Begins Journey as RAF Intelligence Analyst

13 February 2026

The Stamford Air and Defence College (ADC) is proud to announce the latest milestone in the career of 2022-23 graduate, Air Recruit William Isley. After completing  Level 3 Computing alongside his ADC course, William has successfully finished his Phase 1 training at RAF Halton and has graduated from the Recruit Training Squadron (RTS)

Following his graduation, Air Recruit Isley transitioned into Phase 2 training, where he will undergo 14 weeks of specialist training to become an Intelligence Analyst before embarking on his first official tour of duty.

Reflecting on his journey, he credited the specialised environment of the Air and Defense College for his seamless transition into military life, “the College was incredibly useful in helping me enter the RAF, going into my application I knew exactly what was required of me throughout the process which allowed me to prepare.”

The ADC’s unique links to the industry played a pivotal role in shaping his career path. William highlighted, “the range of trips and guest speakers provided me with invaluable insight into which roles I wanted to pursue and what the different RAF bases had to offer.”

Beyond the technical training, the bespoke support from staff proved vital. Isley praised the support he received saying, “Air and Defence College Coordinator, Sara, was incredibly helpful during my application and at times was able to directly communicate with recruiters to help keep me updated throughout.” He added, “ This support meant I was able to get some time to work on myself while going through the application and selection process which meant I went into basic training feeling confident in myself.”

When asked what advice he would give to current students or those considering a similar path, William’s message was simple: “Go for it!”

The Stamford Air & Defence College continues to provide a premier pathway for students looking to secure technical and operational roles within the Armed Forces and the wider aerospace industry.

Congratulations to William Isley and we wish him all the best going into his role as Intelligence Analyst.
