Stamford College Graphic Design Students Win Big with Oakham Ales Collaboration

Graphic Design students from Stamford College have once again impressed in a creative collaboration with Oakham Ales, where students were challenged to design pump clips for the brewery’s seasonal beers.

The live brief offered students a chance to showcase their artistic and conceptual skills in a real-world context, working directly in the industry. The initiative is part of the College’s ongoing commitment to providing hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for creative careers.

Level 3 Graphic Design student Octavia Doughty was named the winner of the November 2025 brief, with a beautifully detailed design inspired by chrysanthemums – the flower traditionally associated with November. Her concept not only captured the essence of the season but also impressed Oakham Ales judges with its originality and execution. “It was so nice to win and see my design come to life,” Octavia said. “Live briefs have been so beneficial in giving me an insight on working with companies after College.”

Joining her in success, fellow Level 3 Graphic Design students Sophia Gripton and Josh Delaney have also had their designs selected for Oakham Ales’ early 2026 pump clips. Sophia’s winning design for the beer clip ‘Timber’ was inspired by the chill of winter and her passion for animal illustration. Reflecting on the achievement, she said, “I based my design on the coldness of November and my love of drawing animals. I was taken aback when I was told I had won – all my work had paid off. Working with a company on a live brief has been great and brilliant to add to my portfolio.”

These achievements highlight the strength of Stamford College’s Graphic Design programme and the exceptional talent of its students. Through engaging live briefs and industry collaborations, learners are gaining invaluable experience and recognition before even completing their qualifications. Opportunities like this not only strengthen student portfolios but also open doors for future careers in the creative industries.
