Stamford College T Level Students Use 3D Printing to Enhance Accessibility for Visually Impaired Learners
Stamford College’s talented Level 3 T Level students in Digital Production, Design and Development have successfully completed an innovative project aimed at improving accessibility in education.
Working in collaboration with the Visual Impairment Team, the students designed and 3D-printed a set of custom tactile flowchart tiles to support a blind learner at Peterborough College. This thoughtful solution transforms standard digital flowcharts into a tactile format, enabling the student to follow complex processes with confidence and independence.
The project showcases the outstanding technical skills, creativity, and empathy demonstrated by our T Level learners. From initial concept development through to modelling, printing, and final assembly, the students applied real-world design thinking to meet a specific accessibility need. Their work highlights the importance of inclusive design and the potential of 3D printing technology to remove barriers in the classroom.
This collaboration is a powerful example of the practical and vocational strengths of T Level programmes, preparing students for meaningful future careers while making a positive impact on their community.
A huge well done to the entire team for their commitment to creating a more inclusive learning environment across Stamford College and Peterborough College and the wider Inspire Education Group.
