Female T Level Construction Students Inspired by Visit to Vistry Group’s Great Haddon Site
Stamford College’s female T Level Construction students enjoyed an inspiring and empowering morning with the Vistry Group at their Great Haddon site in Peterborough.
The visit offered a unique opportunity to experience life on a real construction site and learn directly from women who are thriving in the industry.
Students were welcomed by Site Manager, Laura, who shared her personal journey into construction and spoke openly about the challenges, successes, and opportunities she has encountered along the way. She provided a valuable behind-the-scenes look at the build process, from first fix to final snagging before handover, helping students understand the full lifecycle of a housing development.
The group explored a range of homes at different stages of completion, giving them a true insight into the realities of site work, including safety expectations, teamwork, and the technical skills needed to deliver high-quality builds. The visit highlighted the increasing presence of passionate female leaders in construction and showcased the many pathways available to women entering the industry.
This inspiring experience demonstrated how the sector is evolving and becoming more inclusive, reinforcing that construction is a career full of possibility. Thank you to Vistry Group and NHBCUK for supporting our students and championing the next generation of female professionals.
