Stamford College Collaborates with Town Council on Key Community Renovation Project
Stamford College is proud to announce an exciting new community collaboration that brings local students right into the heart of Stamford to help transform the Shack, a Youth Hub in the centre of Stamford.
Working on this initiative, led by The Stamford Town Council, the college is playing a pivotal role in turning a local facility into a vibrant, multi-use community hub. The powerful partnership that bridges the gap between classroom learning and meaningful community impact. By stepping out of the College workshops and onto a live job site, these students are gaining invaluable, real-world experience while directly investing their time and talents back into the local community.
This brilliant collaborative effort is being supported by Property Maintenance apprentices and Level 1 Bricklaying students working side-by-side on-site. The Property Maintenance apprentices are currently driving the internal fit-out and finishing phases of the renovation. They are focusing their efforts on painting and decorating the interior spaces to ensure they are welcoming and ready for public use, while also making functional internal adjustments, such as installing custom shelving and smart storage solutions, to maximize the building’s versatility.
Meanwhile, our Bricklaying students are tackling essential groundwork and structural preparation in the heart of the site. These students are preparing the crucial foundations for a new container building and assisting with the drainage systems required to support the hub’s updated kitchen and toilets.
The success of this inspiring community collaboration is made possible by the dedicated Stamford College construction staff who are and supporting the students every step of the way.
A massive thank you goes to lecturers Phil Prout, Tom Deignan, and Richard Hodgett, whose leadership on-site ensures the project meets professional standards while providing an exceptional learning environment.
Through this teamwork between Stamford Town Council, college staff, and a motivated new generation of tradespeople, this project stands as an example of what can be achieved when local education and community spirit come together to build a better future for Stamford!
