Photography Alumni Wins British Journal of Photography Female in Focus X Nikon Award

Alice Poyzer, a talented Level 3 Photography alumni, has been making waves in the industry with her remarkable work. Her photography has been featured on the front cover of the FT Weekend Magazine for her image ‘Trophies in the Pool House’.

Adding to her impressive list of achievements, Alice has won The British Journal of Photography Female in Focus X Nikon award, a prestigious honour celebrating female photographers. Her winning series, Other Joys, is a deeply personal exploration of autism, a condition that is often underdiagnosed in women. Through self-portraits, documentary photography, and constructed images, Alice captures the intense emotions associated with special interests, the importance of routine, and the concept of ‘masking’—a coping mechanism used by many autistic individuals to blend into social environments.

Currently pursuing an MA in Photography at the University of the West of England, Alice is set to graduate in 2025. Her talent has already earned her international recognition, as she was selected as one of four Paris Photo Carte Blanche Awardees last year. Her work stands out for its deeply personal yet universally relatable themes, using photography as a medium of understanding autism and the complexities of neurodivergence.

Renowned for her imaginative and theatrical approach, Alice’s work has been praised for its ability to translate the invisible aspects of autism into powerful visual narratives.
