Stamford College Bricklaying Students Trade the Classroom for Community Project at Local Primary School
Level 2 Bricklaying students from Stamford College stepped out of the workshop and into the community to deliver a restoration project for St George’s Primary School.
The group, who are currently ahead of schedule with their qualifications, volunteered their time to carry out essential repairs to a “brick on edge” wall and to deliver and position a new garden planter for the school’s outdoor space.
The project was made possible through a generous donation of materials from The Stile Group. The Managing Director of the organisation personally supported the initiative, ensuring the students had access to high-quality resources to complete the work to a professional standard. This contribution highlights the vital link between local industry and the next generation of tradespeople, allowing students to see the direct impact of their craftsmanship within the local area.
By taking on this community-led task, the students were able to transition from the controlled environment of the college workshop to a live site, navigating the real-world complexities of repair work and logistics. These “live” projects are a core part of the Stamford College experience, ensuring that students develop the professional discipline and community-mindedness required to succeed in the construction sector. The successful completion of the repairs at St George’s highlights the students’ technical proficiency and their commitment to supporting local institutions.
Stamford College continues to pride itself on bridging the gap between education and the frontline of industry, developing partnerships that benefit both the students’ professional growth and the wider Stamford community.
