Creative Arts Students Partner with Stamford Civic Society to Reimagine New Town Centre Arch

7 February 2025

Stamford College is proud to announce a successful collaboration between its Creative Arts students and the Stamford Civic Society, who recently worked together to develop design ideas for the proposed new Stamford Town Centre Arch.

This exciting project gave students the opportunity to apply their artistic skills to a real community initiative, producing imaginative concepts that celebrate the town’s heritage while looking toward its future.

Supported by Tom Coulthard, Lecturer in Art and Design, students explored a wide range of visual approaches, from contemporary interpretations to designs inspired by Stamford’s historic architecture. Reflecting on the value of collaborations like this, Tom shared, “Our students benefit immensely through regular collaboration and live projects each year. Working with organisations like the council and local businesses, we equip our students with real life skills, enriching their experience of studying at Stamford and developing a strong culture of creativity. We are very grateful for opportunities where the talents of our students are recognised.”

This partnership with the Stamford Civic Society has offered learners a meaningful platform to see how their ideas can contribute to the town’s cultural landscape.

Stamford College extends a warm thank you to the Civic Society for giving our Art and Design students the opportunity to have their designs considered for a project that will shape the town centre for years to come.
