Department overview

We offer a range of sports courses designed to develop your performance, theoretical knowledge and practical coaching and training skills. You will have access to Borderville – our real working sports centre complete with all-weather outdoor pitch, fitness suite, and a newly laid FA-rated football pitch, alongside opportunities to get involved sports coaching activities with our students and in partnership with local schools.

Many students progress to university to advance their skills and training in specialisms such as physiotherapy, coaching, nutrition and PE Teaching. A great deal enter employment directly thanks to effective work experience and links to local employers from the industry.

Rugby Development Centre now available to Sport and Exercise Science Extended Diploma Level 3 students.

The centre has been designed for students keen to maintain further studying whilst continuing to pursue training and practice in Rugby.

Monday to Thursday - Study Sport and Exercise Extended Diploma Level 3 (see image below). Friday - 3 hours Rugby Training EXTRA - 3 hours training to be secured weekly with either Stamford Rugby Club or a local club of your choice.

Stamford Rugby Club: Tuesday 7pm to 8.30pm and Thursday 7pm to 8.30pm.


With the skills and experience I have gained at New College Stamford studying Sport I have been able to secure a job as a Sports Coach at Little Kickers!


My tutors encouraged me to get real experience writing a sports column for the local paper, I now have a place on a Sports Journalism Degree at University.


I’ve gained a place at university to study Sports Massage. I love being able to concentrate on something I enjoy.
